TERROR ZONE - Lord Of Wrath

Location: New York, USA
Release: Eyeball Records, 1995

Age of Quarantine, day # 328 - TERROR ZONE, a very short lived project started by KevOne right after they called it quits with BULLDOZE, the beatdown originators.

The biggest difference between the 2 bands is probably the lyrics, from a tough guy/violent stance to a more introspective and Krishna-oriented view, most likely due to Kev's incarceration, which definitely can add other perspectives in someone's life.

Lord Of Wrath was first released as a 2-song EP in '95 by a label that later sellout to mainstream music, then in '96 the German label Gain Ground released the full output of TERROR ZONE, including those 2 songs, under the name Self Realization: A True Lesson In Hard Core which kicks off with a powerful mean intro. Too bad they only pulled off 5 songs before breaking up.

These bands are probably not new to many folks out there as they have a certain following, for download I got my hands on the best rips available. The Bulldoze 7" tracks sounds way different from the discography CD version, it's faster and more raw.

TERMINAL CONFUSION - The Mangler Years

Location: New York, USA
Release: Mangler Records, 1990-1995

TERMINAL CONFUSION, another group taken from the URBAN STYLES Tape Compilation to be featured here. A band based in Queens from 1986 with deep connections in Graffiti and N.Y.H.C. Besides paiting walls and doing mad flyers -- led by VOYER -- they were consistently recording music until 1995 (most of which were recorded by legendary producer Don Fury), the year they released their best effort in my opinion, the 8-song "Earth. Evolution. Extiction" CD.

During the late 80's and early 90's TERMINAL CONFUSION put out half a dozen demo tapes which I couldn't find all the audio files for, just for the albums released on CD or 7" during the 90's that are complete for download here and on average quality, for quite some time now I've been looking for better material but even with the creation of a bandcamp I remain hopeless of ever achieving that, as they are ultra rare.

Also this may or may not have been featured on Blogged and Quartered before, if new stuff appears I will update the download link here. Along the way this band shared members with other dope acts like SECOND 2 NONE, UNHOLY ALLIANCE and SEIZURE CRYPT until they got back together in 2003 and disbanded for the second time not long after the release of their final CD "Scenes From Acts Of Violence".

UNHOLY ALLIANCE was a short lived NYHC band with only a self titled 6-song EP out in 1989, supposably they recorded a demo which sounds way cooler but I only found the EP.

SECOND 2 NONE (thanks to Fred who cleared things out) was another short lived Hardcore group from Queens, active in the late 80's with at least one demo out. I tracked down 4 songs from their 1990 Demo.

Then there was SECOND TO NONE (with no relation to Terminal Confusion whatsover) based in New Jersey, they were playing that 90's metallic beatdown sound not unlike FURY OF FIVE and later formed Shattered Realm. In 2009 they reunited for the Black N Blue Bowl and put out a compilation CD entitled Demo-ography 1995-1998 with all their early stuff.

SEIZURE CRYPT was just plain crazy, in a good way, a mix of No Reedeming Social Value and Sloppy Seconds, hardcore punk wild style. Pay a visit to their bandcamp as all their records are for free download.

Bonus: UNCLE AL is actually Alex Morris, one of the fouding members of NY legends in MURPHY'S LAW! Back in 1998 he recorded the album "Gangway, Stupid" and released it on CD the next year by the same label who released the Unholy Alliance EP, where Alex also played guitar, in 2014 it was re-released with a different artwork and made available as digital and on streaming platforms.

THESE STREETS - Clockwise

Location: California, US
Release: DIY, 2014

2014 must have beaten the new record for the amount of new cool releases and reissues of long out of print classic albums, heres another case. I remember listening to THESE STREETS' first EP "Life From The Gutter" earlier this year and it gets you going, all pumped up and mentally vexed. Now they are back with 9 new tracks, more tight and fierce.

They throw in a good measure of beatdown and groovy NYHC (aka Biohazard's formula), it also features different vocals (timbres and styles) filled with gang singalongs which definitely adds up a notch and makes Clockwise even more enjoyable to listen through. The quality of the recording is something that doesn't go unnoticed, done at the Mayhemeness Studio (Bob Swanson), which makes you wonder why theres no label backing this up at the moment.

Fav track is the one with Wang from Bad Times Crew, great team up. They really took Warhound's place with this new record.

PAURA / CLEARVIEW - Rage Through Integrity

Location: São Paulo, Brasil
PAURA means dread/fear. CLEARVIEW.. comes to mind a chemical product, you mix both you get KABOOM!

Thats why they chose a fallen Maguila for the cover (or George Foreman, dunno), you get knocked out by this soundtrack!

Round 1 you get 4 strikes by Paura, all in the face, heavy as hell. Round 2 comes Clearview, coached once again by Mr. Nick Jett, in 5 hits with crossover twists that makes any combatant dazzling around.

My favourite tracks are TIME OF DISTRESS and NO TURNING BACK, be sure to listem 'em.

HARDCORE NEWS 4 "Fast Times"

Another year has come to an end as fast as ever and hardcore punk has shown no signs of slowing down, as my friend Jerry said hardcore is rock'n'roll only hope.

Without further ado I'll list some really cool upcoming and newly released albums. First I want to take my hats off to my friends at Final Round, after the X-Punch project, the Final Round demo, now their debut EP will be out soon in 2012. We share very similar tastes when it comes to crucial hardcore and it clearly appears in these recordings, Im talking about Warzone, Straight Ahead and Righteous Jams. Listen 'em Up!!

Also from Brazil, two very anticipated records are just out from local heavyweights: CLEARVIEW "Pure Mayhem" and QUESTIONS "Life Is a Fight" worth every minute, I'm talking about gold here, breakdowns that will tear your arms off.

Good news coming from Sweden, expect a warmer winter with almighty GUILTY new EP and the debut EP from CHAIN REACTION. Man! These swedish know how to rock, hard.

In France, representing the youth crew comes NO SOLUTION! with their sick demo, hope to hear more from them next year!

Two most anticipated french releases due 2012 from xDIGx and Dan Forth:

In Uncle Sam's homeland expect some serious shit coming from labels such as Back To Back, Triple-B, 6131, Iron Mind Crew... and YoungBlood that just put out 4 records! Gotta check 'em all out!!!

FURY OF FIVE - At War With The World

Location: New Jersey
Release: Victory Records, 1998

I've been chasing this album (camouflage version) for ages and finally found it in Osaka-Japan, sold to me by Mr. Isao-San @ discogs.com.
Anyways, for the unaware, Fury of V is one of those bands that are either hated or loved, mostly because of their tough guy imagery.

"Gardenstatecore all the way! New Jersey's beefed-up, pissed-off and aptly-named Fury Of V have finally had justice served by signing to Victory and in turn serving up a feral, pit-inducing, aggressive clusterfuck of an album. Paying homage to their homestate with "Takin' Respect," and offering themselves up to any punk-ass takers on "Come and Get It," FOF never backs down. It's a musical experience that will leave you with two black eyes and some front teeth missing."
