This page represent what I feel is real, therefore bands like AFTERBURN will always have a guaranteed spot here, a new group but with familiar faces on it, filling a hole that WAR CHARGE left in the Scottish old school scene.

For those who remember War Charge know what they were up to when it came to hardcore, in Afterburn they just adjusted their pool of influences to the early 00's (Bridge9, Indecision Records) and dropped any metal vestige left, the music got faster, some of the songs inherited that sxe melodic hardcore riffage not unlike Count Me Out and others are a full speed assault like in the track Trapped, very Carry On-ish.

It will be interesting to see where they will head next with their sound, possibilities and hopes are high for Afterburn.

ILL ADVISED - Ill Advised Army

ILL ADVISED, Kentucky best kept secret, short lived but memorable riffs and fun breakdowns. Another of those party bands in the same vein as the past few posts here.

A very Lockin' Out-ish material, but for those who remember Like Glue Records, they used to rep some very good shit as well! During their life span they've put out The Detox Demo in 2012 and this Ill Adivsed Army 5-track EP in 2013, no clue what happened after.

WILD MAN WILD - Dimension Dude

Quick post to bring upon this oddball here in case you missed, WILD MAN WILD! This is actually a pretty fun project, featuring dudes from many other Kansas bands, KICKED IN being my favorite amongst them.

For Wild Man Wild it didn't last long, just the 5-song "Dimension Dude" Cassette and one exclusive track for the Casa De Divesion compilation, adding up to 6 tracks of RZL DZL inspired hardcore, it's all about foods galore, dimensions and sleep deprivation.

GET REAL - SHORE STYLE

Location: Jersey Shore

Release: Broken Glass Records, 2004

Another recent era classic, GET REAL's Shore Style is making 15 years! In 2014 they've put out a 100 of these for their reunion at the Shore Stock, I already had the original LP version (blue lettering piranha) so I didn't bother. The art cover this time is more similar to the CD version which has their whole discography including that track on SWEET VISION compilation.

GET REAL managed to combine the best of NYHC (Outburst, Killing Time) with some of that Lockin' Out sound without losing their own identity. Their live performances were a force to be reckoned with, one of the wildest out there! Cover songs by Cro-mags were a constant in their setlist.

Here's BORN ANNOYING "Living How You're Not" EP out in 2012 by Reaper Records, one of my fav releases from that label! Yeah it features some of the GET REAL dudes in it. Brett (singer) can also be found on another new project but I totally lost track of it.

HEAVY RUNNER - Life Music

Location: Województwo dolnośląskie, Polska

New music is hitting us daily, for those who keep it open minded and possess a good sense of what's real, your next favorite thing can come from anywhere. Based in the Province of Lower Silesian (Poland) comes HEAVY RUNNER with a surprising 10-song LP, freshly out!

In "Life Music" you can expect a full dose of heavy groove hardcore very reminiscent of CROWN OF THORNZ and even The Mongoloids to a certain extent, specially when the singer switch vocal styles. Two references that scores high on my book!

Their affinity with RAP is displayed in the best way possible, adding great flow to the singing and music which also shows small traits of Polish beatdown in times. All in all, taking in consideration the seemingly positive approach on life matters lyrically this turns out to be one of my personal fav hardcore albums of 2019!

FACE REALITY - Strong Survive

Location: Detroit, USA

Release: Back To Back Records, 2012

A true classic of recent years, from 2008 to 2012 FACE REALITY showed what they came here for, not another generic revival Youth Crew group! Each release came out stronger than the previous, making this 2012 EP Strong Survive their pinacle and final offer.

They took their name from a HARD STANCE song, making them one of the biggest influences in their sound and by 2012 some of the band members started FREEDOM (which recently called it quits as well), two of the raddest bands to ever come out from Detroit for quite some time hands down!

Here we have everything they've put out in high quality except their DEMO (which was posted here) plus their contribution track for the Ghoul Gang collective comp.

HOTHEADS - Promotional Heat

With members playing in NYC Headhunter and Krimewatch you can't expect anything soft coming from a side-project by them.

Short-lived projects like HOTHEADS very often appeals to me, especially if they play obscure 80's styled hardcore, so it was an easy pick to be featured here on the blog, even though is not fresh news anymore.

They formed in 2016, released 3 tapes, recording a total of 10 tracks (including a Rolling Stones cover) and then broke up last year. Some merch are still available in their bandcamp, don't sleep!

Members can now be found on Super Natural Psycho and Born Sinner.

HIGH COMMAND - The Primordial Void

As we wait for HIGH COMMAND's highly antecipated debut full-length on Southern Lord here's the 6 tracks of thrash phenomena they have put out so far.

Most recently the 2-track "The Primordial Void" EP and the 4-track Secartha Demos Cassette tape both out by Haftvad Records and recorded by Bostonian underground all-star Chris Corry (No Tolerance, Magic Circle).

If you haven't heard try to picture Iron Age's Sleeping Eye and Sodom's Agent Orange mixed musicianship with King Diamond on steroids fronting the whole thing, ripping everything on its way! If the new LP drops this year, it will most likely figure on my top thrash/crossover releases for 2019 alongside Lowest Creature's new album!!

SOCIAL DECAY - Sick Society

27 years in the making, the lastest from SOCIAL DECAY, fierce NJ unit repping crossover since 1983!

First released as a limited tape then officially on 10-inch vinyl in 2015, "Sick Society" is a collection of newly recorded versions of 9 old songs written as far back as 1983 to 1986, 4 brand new songs and a Mental Abuse cover.

This album is incredibly hard to find in any format -- even digital! -- but very worth checking, all elements preserved from before they first broke up around 1991, thrashy blast parts and breakdowns plus incendiary lyrics! Their previous and killer material can be found on Blogged And Quartered here.
